RUSTY REBELS vs. THE RECYCLED
Game #16 - July 24, 2007
Rebels lose 13-7
Record 8-8-0
Coventry Park -It was a rainy day, no seriously it rained earlier in the day, which probably made the Coventry Park diamond surface better for playing on. The with a win over the Hottub Woodies on Monday night, the Rebels had shaken the monkey off their backs and were looking to keep the momentum going.
Captain Hugh (P2) was the Rebels pitcher on this night (Andy had other commitments) and Hugh pitched very well the entire evening. The Rebels offence got off to a good start, scoring 4 runs in the first inning, but the Recycled, with their strong bats, countered in the bottom on the inning and it wasn't long before the game was back to even. Captain Hugh pitched a good game, the Rebels defense played quite well and the Rebels offense had their chances, but the in end the Rebels just didn't have enough offense to match the recycled on this night. The Rebels even their season record of 8 wins and 8 losses and zero ties. REBELS RECYCLED!!!!! Again...
Highlights: Mikey Boy's consecutive hit streak came to an end, with a line drive to second base, ending the streak at 14 consecutive hits; Hugh in the Pitcher position, caught a screaming line drive, back up the middle, over his head, doubled up the runner on first , who came off the bag; Paul H. did a little bit a pitchin'; Larry ( Uniac) showed his incredible speed in some action out in center field; Jim H. (the Wadd), playing at shortstop, snagged a ground ball, then with a throw to Jimmer at third , with a tag on the runner going from 2nd to 3rd base, not a force play;
Sidenotes: The Rebels players hung around the Coventry Park parking lot drinking some refreshing beverages and light snacks after the game on Tuesday; thanks go out to Donny B. for providing the beverages. The Rebels play their next game on Tuesday July 31, 2007 vs. the Red Dogs at 8:30 pm.
