RUSTY REBELS vs. DISLOCATED JOINTS.
Game # 22 - September 4, 2007
Rebels win 18-6
Team record: 11-11-0
Coventry Park- On a night filled with clear skies and a perfect temperature for a baseball game, the Rusty Rebels were about to play their final game of the T.O.T. regular season game against the Dislocated Joints. The Joints smoked (okay, maybe not smoked) the Rebels in the first meeting of the season, by score of 7-2 and the Rebels, after losing to the Saints one week earlier, needed a win on this night, to finish the season with a record of 11-11-0 and winning percentage of .500.
This game was a rescheduled game that was supposed to be played on Thursday September 6, 2007 at Coventry, but because several players were playing in Niagara Falls on the following weekend the game had been moved up to the Tuesday night. The Joints and Rebels were playing on Coventry diamond #2 , for the first time this season, and the Rebels did not look out of place, on this diamond.
The Rebels started the game with hits from three of the first four batters and brought in 4 runs in the first inning to get off to a much needed quick start and the Joints countered with a couple of runs, but could not manage to get their bats going against the Rebels air tight defense.
Over the next several innings the Rebel batters kept pounding the baseball all over the field, giving the Joints more than they could handle, and the Rebels runs kept piling up on the scoresheet and at the end the Rebels had scored 18 runs (16 more than the last game against the Dislocated Joints) and went on to an easy defeat of the Joints.
This win put the Rusty Rebels baseball team back at .500, but it also give the team confidence going into the 2007 T.O.T. playoffs. The Rebels find themselves playing four playoff games in four days starting next Wednesday night September 19, 2007 against the Hot Tub Woodies, followed by games against the Banshees, the Recycled and the Lucky Stiffs....
