REBELS ESCAPE DOG CATCHERS... 14-7

RUSTY REBELS vs. DOG CATCHERS
Game # 7 June 11, 2007
Rebels win 14-7
2007 Record 6-1-0

Keogh Park- Monday night was probably the best game time weather, this season, for baseball. With clear skies, a warm breeze and very comfortable temperatures, the Rusty Rebels with two games on the schedule this week, were about to face their toughest challenge of this young 2007 season and put their 6 game winning streak on the line. With almost a full team, 12 players, the visiting Rebels led off batting, scoring only one run in the first inning. The Dog Catchers pitcher Randy H. was throwing short and low pitches, which kept the Rebel batters swinging at pitches that they really didn't like very much.

In the bottom of the first inning, the Dog Catchers countered with 2 runs. The two teams exchanged runs over the next couple of innings, but no team was dominate or able to score more than a few runs per inning. The teams kept pace until the middle innings, when the Rebels caught a lucky break with several Dog Catcher errors, opening the door for a big inning for the Rebels. The Rebels managed to put 6 runs up on the scoresheet, stranding the seventh run on second base...

With a comfortable lead, the Rebels defense went into shut down mode and limited the Dog Catchers batters to scoring very few additional runs in the final innings. The Rebels showed great defense again in this game, it sounds like a broken record, but their defense has been a strength from the beginning of the season and seems to be getting better with each game played. The Rebels go on to defeat the Dog Catchers by a score of 14-7 and increase their winning streak to 6 games...

Highlights in this game: Captain Hugh was smoking the ball off the pitching of Randy, and on one occasion put a line drive off the fence in right field; Jimmer playing third, turned a double play on a hit to third, force at the bag and a throw to Donny at first for the double; Mikey Boy hit a fly ball to center field which the Dog Catchers fielders neglected to call and the ball dropped between them for a key hit in the game; The Dog Catchers shortstop Dave M. screamed a hit over the third base bag, down into the left field corner where Glen G. played the ball back to the infield....

Side Notes: The Rebels won their 6th game in a row; On Thursday night they face the undefeated Banshees for the top spot in the standings. REBELS RESISTANT!!!
