RUSTY REBELS vs. DUSTY CLEATS.
Game # 2 - May 14, 2007
Rusty Rebels win 17-7
2007 Record 1-1-0
Keogh Park- When Captain Hugh arrived at the park on Monday, he suggested that Rebel players, under the age of 50, run 2 laps around the outfield; there were no takers to his suggestion. Perhaps what happened was the suggestion of running laps became embedded in the subconscious of all the Rebel players and when the game began the Rebels decided to run the infield bases to appease Captain Hugh. The Rebels, as a collective group, ran around the bases 17 times to bring home the first victory of the 2007 season.
The Rebels didn’t win this game on offence alone, the defensive play was also extremely good; well positioned outfielders and solid infield plays kept the Dusty Cleats off the bases most of the evening. Some offensive and defensive highlights would include: A towering home run over the left center field fence by Rebels left fielder Glen G., a seven run inning and Co-Captain Donny B. displaying some of his goaltending skills, when he kicked out his left leg and made a spectacular toe save at third base. (Just kidding Don).
The Rebels played a very good game, both offensively and defensively. After 2 games, I’m starting to see the awesome potential that I referred to in the first game summary. As the season progresses, Rebels players will become more comfortable with positions and the skills of teammates, The Rusty Rebels are going to be a force to contend with... REBELS REBELLIOUS!!
